The T-Shirt Necklace DIY:
Start with any basic knit T-shirt. I found this one lying around in my closet and hadn't been worn in ages.....
Lay your shirt flat and free of wrinkles. Start by cutting off the bottom hem and tossing it away.....
Next, start cutting strips from one side seam to another in whatever width you choose. (Tip: do not cut too thin or your knit will tear in half).......
You should end up with all the circular strips and half a T shirt (Important, please discard upper half and do not wear cropped t-shirt in public! Not appropriate for us Momma's) .........

Then take your circular t-shirt strips and stretch. The picture below is a strip (on the left) which is not stretched and a strip (on the right) which has been stretched. Stretching causes the ends to curl toward one another and creates more dimension......
Take one strip that has either broken or cut one of your strips in half. Gather all strips together in one hand and make sure all the seams are not gathered in the same spots. You may have to pull, twist and turn so that they side seams of your t-shirts are in various places on the necklace.
Take the extra broken or cut strip and tie a knot around the gathered strips. Then start wrapping the strip from the knot over and over and tuck in the tail at the end. This hides the knot and this will be worn behind your neck.......
Sha-BAMM!! Necklace complete. Layer with other scarves, necklaces, etc. Try different color combinations too!
I love the depth it adds to your accessories and the bright color was cheerful and festive for Valentine's!
I decided to use my long sleeves off the t-shirt and go for a bracelet. Not to be worn at the same time with the necklace (too matchy-matchy)!
The more strips you use, the thicker the braid becomes. I really loved the look layered with other accessories. The Pop of color was eye catching and it was super comfortable too unlike a hard bangle.
If you notice me now wearing shirts with the sleeves cut off, you know why!! {hehe}
