What are you afraid of? {What Women Fear Bible study schedule}

Okay ladies so here it is... the big question....
What are you afraid of?
While you may feel like you are the only one dealing with a fear in your life, you are crazily mistaken. That's exactly how Satan would want you to feel. All alone, alienated and as if your the only one in the world dealing with a particular fear.  How may times have you felt this way?  Well it's time we lay these fears all out on the table so that you know your not alone.  Voicing them doesn't make them come true or give Satan the power to "run with them".  It simply allows you to admit that there is a fear and that is of course the first step to changing anything right?

So here goes...

What I fear most... that in a split second I will make the wrong decision that will affect my family forever that I could have prevented by thinking things through or more clearly.

1 year ago this past Saturday, when E was born there was a traumatic moment during my last push during delivery. His heart rate dropped in the 50s and I could hear it in the Doctor's voice when the whole room screamed "PUSH", she was saying, "Jen this is your last push", in the most calming and peaceful voice. At that moment she laid him on my chest not breathing at this point. I didn't panic because her voice calmed me. I laid there looking at this big, beautiful being and waited for the cry, but it didn't come, he just laid there with good tone and grayish-pink skin color.  As a nurse I knew he needed oxygen. The nurse designated for E quickly said, "I'm going to have to take him." Before she could say the word "take" I had already lifted him up off of my chest and said, "take him, take him now."  He was still at this point the grayish-pink color and I knew that if I didn't give him to her immediately something could go wrong in an instant, no matter what was on "my birth plan".   J, my husband was terrified. As they called for the NICU team he panicked inside, but held it together for me.  I could only see his face and the back of the nurse working to get E to breath. I kept asking is he okay? and what is he doing? All of this happened in the matter of seconds but it was all in slow motion and seemed like 30 minutes.  Praise God it only took a little oxygen over his nose to stimulate that first cry and oh how the entire room erupted in a sigh of relief and release of stress.  At that point I knew everything was going to be okay and the NICU team didn't even have a chance to walk through the door of the room. Once they took his measurements, they wrapped my 8 lb. bundle of Promise in a warm blanket and laid him back on my chest.  All I could say was, "thank you Jesus, thank you Jesus, with tears in my eyes to afraid to let go of them because of the trauma of the whole experience.
From that moment I have feared that something could go wrong with E that I have control over.  The realization is, I have no control over E's life. God breathed life into his lungs at the moment he decided to. It's not something I could give him, but God had to do it.  The same with other scenarios that have ran through my head.  From SIDs to drowning it has flooded my mind at one point or another during his first year of life. It wasn't until last week when I was discussing this with a dear mentor of mine that I realized what I was doing.
She asked me if I trusted God with E's life?  "Of course I do", was a hard reply to make, at least I hesitated at first response to her question.  She then went on to ask if I believed that God created E?  I know that without a doubt that He created him and not my husband and I. If it would have been up to us we would be celebrating his 2nd or 3rd birthday by now. But through the lesson of infertility we learned it was God's timing and not our own.  She then asked if I believed that God had a plan for E's life. "Of course I do" flowed quickly out of my mouth.  Then her reply was, "then you have to trust Him with E's life."
I knew all of this that she was telling me. I just needed someone to make me verbalize my fear.  I didn't want Satan to hear me say it. But I was quickly reminded that He doesn't have access to E because I have covered E with a boundary that Satan can not touch. I "drew the line" in the sand as Jesus did and Satan can not cross it. It is the blood line that is unable to be penetrated.  I have prayed over this child before he was born and all 365 days since for God' hand of protection around him and his angels guarding over him.  Why was I having such a hard time trusting God for what I had asked Him for?  It was fear of no control in the matter. It was the fear of "what if".

Now it's your turn...share your fear on our private 31 Main FB page. You will be surprised at how many responses you get from other women that have the same fear. Even if your not doing the study with us, feel free to join in on sharing your fear. Let's just get this off our chest and deal with is once and for all. I'm not saying it will not be a daily thing, because it certainly is, but we have His grace and mercy to help us through it.

Cup O' Joy: {Fear}

1 Min:

Psalm 91

New International Version (NIV)

Psalm 91

1 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.[a]

2 I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”
3 Surely he will save you
   from the fowler’s snare
   and from the deadly pestilence.

4 He will cover you with his feathers,
   and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.

5 You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,

6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday.

7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.

8 You will only observe with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.
9 If you say, “The LORD is my refuge,”
and you make the Most High your dwelling,

10 no harm will overtake you,
no disaster will come near your tent.

11 For he will command his angels concerning you
   to guard you in all your ways;

12 they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.

13 You will tread on the lion and the cobra;
you will trample the great lion and the serpent.
 14 “Because he[b] loves me,” says the LORD, “I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.

15 He will call on me, and I will answer him;

I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.

16 With long life I will satisfy him

   and show him my salvation.”

5 min:
Pray to the Heavenly Father to reveal your fears
and to open your eyes to the root of it.
It may have planted it's seed at birth or as a child.
Ask the Holy Spirit to show you how to dig around the fear
so that you are sure that every little piece of the root comes out.
You don't want to leave even a tiny slither of the root behind.
He will reveal to you how this root is going to "come out".
Ask Him to show you today the steps to take
on beginning the process of extracting this fear.
Remember if you dwell in the shelter of knowing
He has your best interest at pulling this root out.

Father, I ask that you show my sister the fear that is in her life.
I pray that during the process of getting to the bottom of the root,
that you show her the your way of getting it out.
You care for every fear that has creeped in during the darkness.
I thank you for the comfort of Your Word that says
You will comfort her and this fear will not overtake her or harm her.
I thank you for the covering of Your gentle and soft feathers that
she will find refuge under.
Your Word will be her shield and
I thank you that she will find comfort there.
Surround her today and as she seeks You first
I pray that your promises will be revealed.
In Jesus name, Amen.

10 min:
Can you name your greatest fear?
Fear starts as children, usually around the age of 4,
unless there is a type of trauma,
they have experienced before the age of 4.
Darkness is a typical one that starts at this age.
There is just something about it that they don't like.
They fear that "something" bad is going to happen.
I remember as a child I always slept with a night light on.
I feared the dark.
My mom placed a white wooden angel on my book shelf
directly across the room so that the light would shine on it
and the angel would be "looking" at me, as if "protecting me."
She would tell me that His angels were there protecting me
and watching over me while I slept.
Oddly enough I still have that angel in our room looking at me as I type.
I knew that the wooden angel didn't have any power,
and in my magical state of thinking, I understood the
unilateral term of they are here, but you just can't see them.
Thinking back, I must have felt them there too,
because I would roll over close my eyes and drift off to sleep.
Not every night was that easy though.
Sometimes my fear would overtake me and
a nightmare would wake me shaken and afraid to tears.
My mom would rush into the room with me sobbing on my bed
and wrap her arms around me
and tell me that she was right there
and everything is okay.
After being wide-eyed and unable to close my eyes
in fear of the darkness and what might happen if I closed my eyes,
my mother would read Bible stories to me until I was calmed down.
She would then pray and remind me of the angels
that were there and assure me that I had nothing to fear.
I trusted her and rolled over with her rubbing my back and
at some point drifted back off to sleep.

and maybe you didn't have a mother like I did.
One that you could trust and
rush to you when you had a bad dream
to wrap her arms around you and
speak to you the promises of God.
Maybe you did and you can think back to those moments.
What ever the case our heavenly Father left us
with the Holy Spirit as our Comforter
He will rush to you in times of fear and
provide the gentle covering of His "feathers" as protection over you.
Whether it is a physical or mental covering that you need,
He will wrap his gentle arms around you.
At that point turn to His Word for His promises.
You will find comfort, peace and wisdom there.

So if we If we "dwell in the shelter of the most High"
we will rest in the shadow of the Almighty."
Makes since right?

Looking back at verse 1 the word "Almighty" has an [a] beside it.
The Hebrew "Almighty" is translated as El Shaddai,
which means "God Almighty."
Here in particular "Shaddai" is translated as "the God of heaven."
This is a spiritual battle in the heavens that God is willing to equip you for.
He's not going to fight it, you are.
Remember the verse in Wednesday's double shot of espresso that we talked about?
It's about more than what we can physically see and
we are just going to need to trust Him on this one.
We will have to trust He has placed the angels in "our room" as he says in verse 11.
We have to place our trust that they will guard us in all our ways.
I believe this means physical, mental and spiritual, (as in hearts and minds).
He tells us that we will tread upon the lion and the cobra and trample them!
That's pretty powerful stuff.
Again this is in the spiritual and physical.
Whatever we do in the flesh is also going on in the spiritual.

I hope that you have find that fear and take care of it.
He does not want us to live in fear.
He wants us to have a long, satisfying life. v16
in the Word I have shown you today.
It really is that simple and we can't do this daily on our own.
God is the one who will show you how to get that root of fear out.
I hope that you will join us for the online Bible study of
Angie puts and incredible new light on the matter
that will help you look at the scriptures in a whole new way.

This is a picture of my wooden angel...
This is the inscription on the bottom...
I have never looked up the verse on the bottom that I can remember.
Here is what it says...

Hebrews 1:14

New International Version (NIV)
14 Are not all angels ministering spirits sent
to serve those who will inherit salvation?
Pretty cool huh?

If you don't know what salvation is that they are talking about in Psalm 91:16 and Hebrews 1:14.
It is the gift of eternal life. The Bible tells us that God sent His Son to die on a cross for your sins so that you may have the gift of eternal life. We call this salvation, because He was sent to save you from eternal damnation to hell. We all have sinned and fallen short, we were born that way. We can't do anything about it, but Jesus can. It's simple to receive your gift of salvation by asking the Father to forgive you of your sins, believe that He died on the cross to cover your sins and to cleanse you from anything bad. Now confess to someone that you know has the gift of salvation and let them know that you have made this decision. It will not only help you but it will bless them as well.  This may help you further understand the process of salvation. Any questions contact me I am here for you.

Blessings!
