Friday Fashion DIY

With Valentines day approaching soon, I wanted to share a quick, easy and super inexpensive craft to add some color and texture to any outfit.  I chose to use the color PINK in honor of the upcoming Holiday, but you go with whatever color comes to mind or create a blend of different shades or coordinating colors.

The T-Shirt Necklace DIY:

Start with any basic knit T-shirt.  I found this one lying around in my closet and hadn't been worn in ages.....

Lay your shirt flat and free of wrinkles.  Start by cutting off the bottom hem and tossing it away.....

Next, start cutting strips from one side seam to another in whatever width you choose.  (Tip: do not cut too thin or your knit will tear in half).......

You should end up with all the circular strips and half a T shirt (Important, please discard upper half and do not wear cropped t-shirt in public! Not appropriate for us Momma's) .........
 another view.......

Then take your circular t-shirt strips and stretch.  The picture below is a strip (on the left) which is not stretched and a strip (on the right) which has been stretched.  Stretching causes the ends to curl toward one another and creates more dimension......

Take one strip that has either broken or cut one of your strips in half.  Gather all strips together in one hand and make sure all the seams are not gathered in the same spots.  You may have to pull, twist and turn so that they side seams of your t-shirts are in various places on the necklace.

Take the extra broken or cut strip and tie a knot around the gathered strips.  Then start wrapping the strip from the knot over and over and tuck in the tail at the end.  This hides the knot and this will be worn behind your neck.......

Sha-BAMM!!  Necklace complete.  Layer with other scarves, necklaces, etc.  Try different color combinations too!

I love the depth it adds to your accessories and the bright color was cheerful and festive for Valentine's!

I decided to use my long sleeves off the t-shirt and go for a bracelet.  Not to be worn at the same time with the necklace (too matchy-matchy)!

I took several strips of my sleeve together and did a simple braid......
The more strips you use, the thicker the braid becomes.  I really loved the look layered with other accessories.  The Pop of color was eye catching and it was super comfortable too unlike a hard bangle.

 If you notice me now wearing shirts with the sleeves cut off, you know why!!  {hehe}

Go get crafty girls and add some color to your outfit today!

V-Day Fashion Friday

Good Morning Lovlies,

With Valentine's right around the corner, Fashion Friday will be devoted to LOVE for the next two weeks!   Whether you have a romantic date night out planned with your Hubby or a quiet night at home after the kids have gone to bed, take time to add in that extra POP of pink or red for the occasion!

I do not tend to wear a lot of red.  It is just not a color I have a lot of in my closet, but Valentine's sends me digging for that one piece of clothing or accessory to make me feel festive.  I LOVE Valentine's Day!  I Love to make my Man feel special with a card and little gestures of LOVE wrapped up!  Valentine ideas for your LOVES will be the post next week so stay tuned!!

Here are some great options for your V-Day wardrobe!

Choose a red hand bag, necklace or flats.......

Target has great RED skinny jeans right now for $20!  Grab a pair STAT!

Mmmm, this looks appealing too!  Don't limit red to just your
wardrobe:-))))

I LOVE PINK!  V-Day is a great time to expose your LOVE for PINK too!

I would love to have a pair of HOT PINK pumps!  Wear with jeans and a simple white shirt.....PINK-tastic!

Here is a great Mom outfit for running around with the Kids on V day!  Looks more like what I will probably have on!

The only rule for date night is.....

Do not let your Man out of the house in this!

It will NOT be pretty!

Stay tuned for next week's Fashion Friday!  I will be posting a V-Day Craft to add to your wardrobe and gift ideas for your Hubby and Little Loves!

Marriage: Date night fun

Good morning ladies!  Have you grabbed your Cup O' Joy today. If you missed it yesterday it's not to late. Since the flavor of the week is marriage I thought I would throw out some ideas for date nights. I was inspired by a few pins...

I also found a new blog called date night divas. The only vibe I got from it was a positive one and it is Dave Ramsey approved so I dare to share one of their ideas too...

I especially like how she commented on how holding hands in the car use to be a normal thing, but she tended to pull away.  It's the little things that made us fall in love so why not bring those things back to date night. It doesn't have to be fancy, just fun.  Be sure to include a "plan" talk in there. You will be amazed at what you can accomplish with just 20 minutes of a serious "dream making" conversation.
 It works!
And how cool would this be... um yes please all snuggled up by a fire....

What are your ways of keeping date night fun and exciting? Are your wheels spinning yet?
I hope so. You don't have to wait until Valentines day to have a romantic date, which is just around the corner ya know! Come on gals plan a night out with your hubby and make it one to remember.

If a girl could walk into her closet and dress in anything her hearts desired I would probably choose one of these outfits.... actually when you search "date night" on pintrest this is what ladies had pinned....

I could totally live with any of the 3!
